7 essential tips for creating a sacred space that will enhance your virtual Reiki experience.
Hi! If you’re new to the world of virtual Reiki, you might be wondering how to create the perfect environment to make the most of your session. Whether you’re a seasoned Reiki enthusiast or just starting your journey, setting up your space properly can make a huge difference in your experience. I’m here to share seven essentials to help you create a cozy and effective space for your virtual Reiki session. Let’s get to it!
Find Your Safe Space
First things first—choose a quiet and comfortable spot where you won’t be disturbed. This could be a dedicated room or a cozy corner of your home. The key is to pick a place where you can relax and feel at ease. Remember, this is your sacred space for self-care and healing.
Set the Mood
We’re talkin’ about mood lighting, baby. Lighting can significantly impact your mood and relaxation. Soft, gentle lighting is ideal for a Reiki session. You might use a lamp with a dimmer, some fairy lights, or even candles (safely placed, of course!). A calm, well-lit environment can help you feel more centered and connected during your session.
Get Comfy Cozy
Comfort is crucial when it comes to Reiki. Find a space where you can comfortable sit or lie down. You might use a cushion, yoga mat, or your favorite chair. Some clients have even set up in their bed. Whatever makes YOU the most comfortable. Make sure you have enough pillows or blankets to keep you cozy and supported throughout the session. Temperature changes are common, so layers are key.
Calm the Senses
Add some soothing elements to your practice. Consider using calming essential oils, playing soft instrumental music, or incorporating a gentle aroma diffuser. These touches can trigger even deeper relaxation for the body and mind, enhancing your overall experience.
Tidy & Cleanse
A clutter-free space helps clear your mind and promotes relaxation. Take a few minutes to tidy up the area where you’ll be during your session. Beyond the physical tidying, you may want to cleanse your space energetically with sage or palo santo. You can do this by diffusing through the space and around your body. Go the traditional method with burning and wafting, or choose a cleansing palo santo or sage spray/mist for my smoke-sensitive friends. A cleansed and organized environment can contribute to a more focused and peaceful experience.
(I will be cleansing the virtual channel as the practitioner, do not stress if you don’t have access to your own cleansing tools, they are not required, just an enhancement.)
Setup Your Tech
Since it’s a virtual session, make sure your technology is ready to go. Check your internet connection, make sure your camera and microphone are working, and close any unnecessary apps or software before the session starts. This helps ensure a clear and uninterrupted experience, keeping the focus on your healing and not awkwardly miming “can you hear me?” for 15 minutes.
Set an Intention
Before the session begins, take a moment to set your intentions. Think about what you hope to achieve or any specific areas where you’d like to focus. Write these down, or spend a moment with each in mental focus. This can help you stay centered and support the energy flow during your Reiki session.
